This is a terrible, terrible story (and I am in the middle of writing an article about it for PJM). But this headline annoys me.
Does it matter that she is a wholesome, church loving Christian who gets great grades? Would it make the crime any less heinous if she were an agnostic C student?
Making this a headline to a story implies that these attributes are somehow important to the story. They are not. Someone was gang raped while people watched. The fact that the victim is a church going honor student is in no way relevant to the crux of the story.
Shame on you, ABC.
